Why is Estee Lauder cost $20 more in Australia then in America?

Why does Australia have to pay $20 more which is $38 for the Est茅e Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil when it only costs $18 in America???|||Tariffs, the value of the Australian dollar compared to the value of the American dollar, the cost of shipping, inflation, and greed.|||Simple:

Higher taxes, more restrictions, etc., put on businesses by the government (including import taxes) are simply a cost of business that is ALWAYS passed on in the form of higher prices, and/or lower wages.

So remember this the next time some politician is suggesting 'taxing the rich" or whatever.

It will ALWAYS cost you more to buy stuff!

The point being, you guys have higher taxes than us, and I'm guessing you have import taxes, to supposedly 'help Australian manufacturers". (quotes = sarcasm here...)

The problem with that policy, is that it assumes your local businesses make everything there is that you might want to buy.

Obviously, that is not true!|||Because it is imported, probably. I have to pay more for things that come from France, etc.

I agree $38 does seem high, but it is high priced where I live as well (Virginia). Over $40 for an eyeshadow quad? I don't buy Estee Lauder because whenever I tried it all I got was very expensive breakouts.

Estee Lauder is nothing but a name. You can buy Cover Girl, Maybelline, L'Oreal, or Rimmel for far less and get the same results.|||Import taxes and custom taxes. I live outside the USA and pay double for everything
